Golden Flashes Track and Field opens the 2021 Indoor Season at the Akron Quad Meet

The Kent State track and field program will travel to Akron as it competes in the Akron Quad meet on Friday, January 15.
Competition begins on Friday with the women's pole vault, women's weight throw, men's long jump, and men's high jump all starting at 5:00 p.m. The last field event is scheduled to get underway at 8:00 p.m. The men's mile kicks off the running events at 6:00 p.m. Competition will conclude on Friday with the women's 4x400 taking the track at 8:40 p.m.
Kent State will compete against host Akron, Buffalo and Eastern Michigan at the quad meet, which will be scored 9-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 for individual events and 9-7-6-5 for relays.
PREVIEWING THE FLASHES
Kent State will have five top-5 finishers from last year's Mid-American Conference Indoor Championships competing in the Akron Quad.
On the women's side, Grace Tennant headlines the Flashes with her 1st place finish in the shot put, throwing a distance of 51'-11.25".
On the men's side, Nate Cousino and Jack McElligott both set personal records in last year's MAC Indoor Championships. Cousino came in 3rd place in the 800-meter dash (1:51.97), and McElligott captured 5th place in the high jump (6'-7").
Lukas Van Der Watt and Jake Wickey also finished 4th and 5th in the pole vault and weight throw, respectively. Van Der Watt cleared a height of 16'-0" while Wickey had a throw on 66'-0.5".

The Golden Flashes will travel back to Akron to compete in the annual Akron Dual on Friday, January 22.
