Golden Flashes Track and Field set to compete in the Akron Tri-Meet

The Kent State men's and women's track and field teams are back in action as they travel to Akron to compete in the Akron Tri-Meet on Friday, January 22.
Competition begins with the women's pole vault, women's weight throw, men's long jump, women's long jump, and men's high jump all starting at 5:00 p.m. The last field event is scheduled to get underway at 8:00 p.m. The men's mile kicks off the running events at 6:00 p.m. Competition will conclude on Friday with the women's 4x400 relay taking the track at 8:40 p.m.
The Golden Flashes will compete against host Akron and Buffalo. The event will be scored as a tri-meet with 7-5-4-3-2-1 for individual events and 7-5-4 for relays.
PREVIEWING THE FLASHES
Kent State had four student-athletes finish top-3 last Friday at the Akron Quad.
On the women's side, Grace Tennant won the shot put with a throw of 52'-3.75", which leads the MAC and ranks 12th in the NCAA.
On the men's side, Jake Wickey captured second place with a PR of 69'-2.5" in the weight throw. This distance currently has him ranked 6th overall in the NCAA.
Gavin Schoeneman and Alexander Shields also both placed well in their collegiate debuts. Schoeneman finished third in the high jump (6'-8.75") and Shields took home third in both the 60-meter hurdles (8.25) and the long jump (22'-4.5").
Notable Flashes slated to make their season debuts on Friday include Nate Cousino, Asa Hodrick, Jaheim Jones, Anthony Milliner, Gabby Bailey, Mi'Angel Daniels, and Leah Pasqualetti.
NEXT UP FOR KENT STATE
The Flashes are not scheduled for competition next weekend and will return to action on Saturday, February 6 to compete in the Akron Invitational.
