Golden Flashes Down Indiana in Overtime

KENT, Ohio – The Kent State field hockey team (8-4, 3-1 MAC) defeated Indiana 2-1 in an overtime thriller at Murphy-Mellis Field.
The Hoosiers would score at the 11:47 minute-mark in the first quarter and held the lead until late into the fourth. It was with just over a minute left that Kent State would capitalize on a penalty corner to tie the game. Junior Maria Cambra Soler scored for the Flashes while senior's Luisa Knapp and Helena Cambra Soler were credited with the assists. Regulation would end in a draw and the game headed to overtime.
After four minutes and 30 seconds of extra time, the Flashes would find the back of the net off another penalty corner to secure their 2-1 win. Fifth year Clara Rodriguez Seto had the game winner and Knapp tallied her second assist of the game.
Kent State led the Hoosiers in shots (11-7), shots on goal (6-4), and penalty corners (8-4).
The Flashes return to action for their final home game of the season on Friday, Oct. 15 where they will face off against Miami of Ohio. The game is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
