
Flashes Face Miami in Home Finale Before Traveling to Bucknell

The Kent State field hockey team (8-4, 3-1 MAC) will face off against Miami in their final home game of the season on Friday, Oct. 15 at 2 p.m. before hitting the road to take on Bucknell on Sunday, Oct. 17 at 12 p.m.
The Flashes current three game win streak is their second of the season and they look to add to it this weekend.
SCOUTING MIAMI
The Redhawks finished the 2021 Spring season with a 13-2 overall record and are 7-9 this Fall. The reigning Mid-American Conference champions return three of their top five point scorers in Claudia Negrete Garcia (23), Lexie Nugent (14) and Paula Pena (11).
SCOUTING BUCKNELL
The Bison finished the 2021 Spring season with an overall record of 6-4 and are 6-6 this Fall. They return four of their top five point scorers in Rachel Apa (7), Mackenzie Kile (4), Kari Melberger (4), and Mary Kate Stefanowicz (4). Freshman Lily Neilson leads the team in both goals and points so far this season with 9 and 19, respectively.
THE SERIES
Kent State was defeated by both Miami and Bucknell their last time out, falling to the Redhawks in the Spring by a score of 4-2 and the Bison 3-2 in overtime back in 2007. The Flashes now hold a 49-39-2 all-time series advantage against Miami and a 2-1-1 all-time series advantage against Bucknell.
