No. 24 Field Hockey to Host Longwood and Indiana for Senior Days

The No. 24 Kent State field hockey team (6-4, 2-1 MAC) is set to host Longwood on Friday, Oct. 8 and Indiana on Sunday, Oct. 10 at Murphy-Mellis Field. Both games are scheduled to begin at 12 p.m.
The game against Longwood will serve as senior day for the Kent State class of 2021 and the game against Indianaย will be senior day for the class of 2022.
SCOUTING LONGWOOD
The Lancers finished the 2021 Spring season with an overall record of 8-5 and are 6-3 this Fall. Their top two point scorers, Luna Lopez (13) and Maroussia Walckiers (10), also lead the team in goals scored with 5 and 4, respectively. Longwood has four other players who are all tied at three goals a piece.
SCOUTING INDIANA
The Hoosiers ended the 2021 Spring season with a 1-14 overall record and are 6-6 this Fall. They return four of their top five point scorers in Mary Kate Kesler (7), Anna Gwiazdzinski (2), Kennedy Reardon (2), and Peyton Becker (2).
THE SERIES
Kent State split their pair of games with the Lancers this past Spring falling in the first 1-0 but coming out on top in the second 2-1 in overtime. The Flashes last played Indiana in 2019 defeating the Hoosiers by a score of 5-1. Kent State now holds an 8-3 all-time series advantage over Longwood and a 3-2 all-time series advantage over Indiana.
