Kent State Track and Field hosts Kent State Tune-Up

The Kent State track and field program hosts its second meet in a row at the Kent State Field House this Saturday, February 20 as it competes in the Kent State Tune-Up.
Competition begins with the women's weight throw at 10:00 a.m. The last field event is scheduled to get underway at 1:30 p.m. The women's 5,000-meter run kicks off the running events, which also start at 1:30 p.m. Competition will come to a close with the men's 4x400-meter relay at 5:10 p.m.
PREVIEWING THE FLASHES
The Golden Flashes had eight student-athletes set new personal records last weekend at the Doug Raymond National Qualifier.
On the women's side, Desiree Thomas and Leah Pasqualetti secured first-place finishes in their respective events. Thomas finished on top in the high jump (5'-7.75"), while Pasqualetti took first in the pole vault (13'-6.5"). Leah Lisle, Sarena Choi, and Grace Luther all took third-place finishes in the mile, triple jump, and weight throw, respectively. Lisle crossed the finish line in 5:13.16, Choi jumped a distance of 38'-11.75", and Luther threw for a distance of 58'11.5".
On the men's side, Gavin Schoeneman and Brian Phillips set PRs in the high jump and long jump, respectively. Schoeneman secured a second-place finish by clearing a height of 6'-11", while Phillips came in second with a jump of 23'-6.75". Justin Dwyer matched his previous personal-best in the 400-meter run, coming in second place with a time of 49.11 seconds.
Other notable finishes included Asa Hodrick, taking home first place in the men's 60-meter dash (6.83), Alexander Shields, securing first in the men's 60-meter hurdles (8.00), Jake Wickey, finishing on top in the men's weight throw (69'-5.5"), Mi'Angel Daniels, securing first in the women's 60-meter hurdles (8.75), and Grace Tennant, taking home first in the women's shot put (52'-9.25").
NEXT UP FOR KENT STATE
The Golden Flashes will travel to Mount Pleasant, Michigan next weekend to compete in the MAC Indoor Championships on Friday, February 26 and Saturday, February 27.
