Powerful Attack Leads Flashes to 3-0 Win at Toledo

TOLEDO, Ohio — The Kent State volleyball team bounced back from a disappointing setback on Monday with a dominant 3-0 (25-12, 25-23, 25-20) win over Toledo inside of Savage Arena on Saturday afternoon.
The Golden Flashes (7-1) posted a season-high .350 hitting percentage and were led by the trio of sophomore pin hitters Savannah Matthews, Taylor Heberle and Morgan Copley, which combined for 36 kills while hitting at a .406 clip. Matthews led all players with 17 kills and registered a career-high .536 hitting percentage while sharing the match lead with 13 digs for her third double-double of the season. Heberle and Copley added 10 kills and nine kills, respectively.
Redshirt junior Alex Haffner ran an efficient offense and totaled 40 assists. Haffner added 10 digs and one service ace. Junior Erin Gardner had 13 digs.
Kent State will attempt to complete its fourth weekend series sweep of the season when the teams meet for a rematch at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday.
