
Wickey Places Eighth at NCAA Indoor Championships

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Senior Jake Wickey took eighth place in the men's weight throw on Thursday evening and Kent State sits seventh in the team standings at the end of the first day of competition at the 2021 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships.
Wickey was in fourth halfway through the event with a top throw of 71'-8.75". He was unable to improve on his fourth and fifth throws and dropped to sixth heading into the final round. Wickey's final throw also went 71'-8.75".
The eighth-place finish earned one point for the Golden Flashes in the team standings. Florida sits atop the leaderboard with 10 points after Thomas Mardal captured the first event title of the meet.
The Golden Flashes will conclude their time at the NCAA Indoor Championships on Friday. Gabby Bailey and Grace Tennant will start the day in the women's shot put at 12 p.m. ET. Leah Pasqualetti will then compete in the women's pole vault at 7:30 p.m. ET.
