Kent State Readies for Thursday Match Against Ohio

The Kent State soccer team (2-1-0) is back at home and are set to host the Ohio Bobcats (1-2-0) Thursday in a 4 p.m. kick-off on Zoeller Field at Dix Stadium.
Last Time Out
The Golden Flashes suffered their first setback of the season, falling 4-2 to Miami in Oxford. Miami scored the first two goals before Karly Hellstrom and Yasmine Hall each scored a goal on either side of the half-time break to level the score. Miami scored the final two goals to pull ahead and put the game away to earn the win.

-Vital Kats moved into a tie for first all-time in multiple-assist games with five. She enters Thursday with 24 career assists, one behind third all-time and three behind second.
-Yasmine Hall enters the game second in the East Division with three goals, one behind leader Marcy Barberic.
-The Mid-American Conference East Division is looking to be a competitive fight for the berth in the MAC Championship Game, with four teams tied in the standings with 2-1-0 records through three games. The four teams are Bowling Green, Buffalo, Kent State, and Miami.
Scouting Ohio
Ohio comes into Thursday's contest after picking up their first win of the season, a 3-0 rout of Akron in which their defense only conceded one shot in 90 minutes. The Bobcats' goals were scored by Abby Townsend, Izzi Boyd, and Shae Robertson while goalkeeper Sydney Malham gets the shut out without having to make a save. The goals were Ohio's first three of the season after being shut out by Miami and Bowling Green in their first two games, although they did force overtime in the game against Bowling Green.
Series History
The Flashes have a 14-12-2 series lead over the Bobcats. Kent State won the 2019 contest 3-1 with three first half goals off corner kicks. The goals were scored by Sierra Henderson-Muschett, Tianna Harris, and Maddie Holmes off service from Vital Kats. Ohio pulled one back in the 64th minute when Olivia Darrow scored off an assist from Sarina Dirrig, but it was too little too late to mount a Halloween comeback and Kent State took the three points.
