
Flashes Lead After Day One of Rutherford Intercollegiate

State College, Pa.- The Kent State men's golf team sits in first place after the first day at the Rutherford Intercollegiate after posting a 36-hole score of 569 (+1).
The Flashes posted a 284 (E) in the opening round and finished the second round with a 285 (+1) score. Loyola Maryland trails the Flashes by four shots and sit in second place, while third place Penn State trail by six shots.
Cade Breitenstine leads the Flashes with a 140 (-2) score through two rounds. Breitenstine posted rounds of 70 (-1) for the first and second round and ended the day with six birdies.
Josh Gilkison it tied for ninth at 142 (E) after posting rounds of 70 (-1) and 72 (+1).Gilkison finished the day with five birdies total.
Julien Paltrinieri and Chris Vandette are both tied for 22nd at 145 (+3). Paltrinieri fired rounds of 72 (+1) and 73 (+2), while Vandette carded a 72 (+1) in the opening round and closed the day with a 73 (+2).
Jared Wilson rounds out the lineup tied for 43rd with a 149 (+7). Wilson opened the day with a 79 (+8) and went 15 holes for par or better with five birdies to finish the second round with a 70 (-1).
Kent State will begin the final round Sunday morning starting at 9:30. The Flashes will be paired with Loyola Maryland and Penn State.
