
Tennant’s Pair of Victories PR Highlight Friday's Action at Northeast Ohio Quad

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Kent State track and field teams posted six event victories on Friday as they returned to action Friday at the Northeast Ohio Quad hosted by Youngstown State. picking up four wins with two athletes moving into the top ten in the Kent State record book.
Grace Tennant led the way by winning both the women's shot put and women's discus throw. Tennant's outdoor shot put personal-best throw of 52'-5.25" puts her at No. 8 on the Golden Flashes' all-time performance list, while her heave of 165'-1" is the top discus throw mark in the Mid-American Conference this year. Gabby Bailey finished runner-up in both events with top throws of 48'-4.75" in shot put and 156'-2" in discus.
Jake Wickey earned the men's hammer throw title with a personal-best toss of 214'-8", which into ninth all-time at Kent State.
Kent State tool the top three spots in the women's high jump, as Lillie Franks cleared 5'-6" for first place in her return to competition for the first time in just over 13 months. Desiree Thomas was right behind, cleared an outdoor personal-best height of 5'-5". Tianna McCormick jumped 5'-3" to finish third.
The Flashes added a pair of event titles on the track. Justin McKeal finished with a personal-best time of 15:29.97 to win the 5,000-meter run and Sam Michael followed him to the line in second with a time of 16:26.34. Ruby Greenwood took the women's 400-meter dash title in a time of 57.17.
Leah Pasqualetti attempted to set a new program record in the women's pole vault but was unable to clear the bar on her three attempts at 14'-1.25". Her top clearance of 13'-9.25" is the second-best in the Kent State outdoor record book, as she placed second on misses.
The men also had a strong showing in the pole vault with Kristian Kneffler and Lukas Van Der Watt tying for the No. 8 spot on the all-time event performance list with a height of 16'-6.75". Kneffler placed third and Van Der Watt was fourth due to missed attempts.
The Flashes took three of the top four spots in the men's high jump, with Gavin Schoeneman missing out on the title due to misses with a top height of 6'-8". Brad Jones cleared 6'-6.75" for third and Jack McElligott placed with a mark of 6'-4.75".
On the track, Korie Davis II, Maddie Dunlap and Lauren Hadley all posted second-place finishes. Davis II ran 49.36 in the men's 400-meter dash, Dunlap finished the women's 1,500-meter run in 4:46.85 and Hadley clocked a 12.52 in the women's 100-meter dash.
Kent State had three additional third-place performers. Grace Frye threw a personal-best 118'-5" in the women's javelin throw. Alex Stamper ran a time of 4:00.78 in the men's 1,500-meter run. Ethan Yost finished the men's 800-meter run in a personal-best time of 1:56.46.
Kent State is scheduled to be back in action next weekend at the Tennessee Relays from April 8 through April 10.
