Jonesborough, TENN... The Kent State men's golf team lept two spots on the final day of this year's Bank of Tennessee Intercollegate, passing MAC rival Toledo to finish the tournament in a tie for ninth.
"We felt we played protective golf instead of being aggressive and that led to some struggles this week," KSU head coach Jon Mills said.
The Flashes were led by reigning Freshman of the Year Jordan Gilkison, who was at the top of his game on Tuesday, carding a 67 in the final round to jump 25 spots and finish the invitational in 15th.
Though he competed as an individual this week, it was a phenomenal three day stretch for Bryce Reed, who posted a score of 73 on Monday and Tuesday to finish in a tie for 23rd.
Chris Vandette and Luca Civello also climbed the individual standings on the final day, wrapping up the intercollegiate in ties for 29th and 37th respectively.
Kent State will be back in action for one final tournament before the winter break on October 21 when the team travels to North Carolina for the Williams Cup.
