Kent State falls to No. 7 Virginia

Charlottesville, VA – The Kent State field hockey team (7-9, 5-1 MAC) fell to No. 7 Virginia (11-5) this afternoon.
Virginia came out strong in the first half and scored two goals in the first, followed by one in the second. The Golden Flashes defense fought hard in the second half. Alex Sacker made a defensive save early in the third quarter, her third of the season. She is ranked No. 3 in the MAC for defensive saves. Cecile van Eijck made eight saves out of the 12 shots on goal during the game.
The Cavaliers out shots the Flashes 21-3 and led in penalty corners 7-2.
The Golden Flashes are back home at Murphy-Mellis Field for the last weekend of regular season games. Kent State takes on Bellarmine for a MAC matchup on Friday, Oct. 28 at 3 p.m. Then the Flashes travel to East Lansing on Sunday, Oct 30 to face off against Michigan State at 1 p.m.
