
Kent State captures MAC Champion Regular Season Title

KENT, Ohio – The Kent State field hockey team dominated against Bellarmine, 4-1, this evening to receive the Mid-American Conference Championship regular season title.
Both the Knights and Golden Flashes came out strong in the first quarter. Eight minutes in, the Flashes earned a penalty corner and Maria Cambra Soler scored from assists by Danielle Hamm and Iris Bekker. About two minutes later, Bellarmine tied up the score 1-1. However, Maria Cambra Soler came back and scored her second goal of the game to end the quarter 2-1. Both teams went scoreless in the second quarter. Jenna McCrudden sealed the lead for Kent State and scored the third goal in the third quarter. The Golden Flashes were able to secure one more goal in the final quarter when Patricia Strunk scored off a penalty corner.
The Flashes have captured back-to-back regular season titles for the first time since winning 5 in a row from 2012-16. Kent State will travel to Oxford on Friday, Nov. 4 to face off against App State.
The Golden Flashes will take of Michigan State on Sunday, Oct. 30 at 1 p.m.
