Flashes Begin Homestand Sunday Against Hiram

Kent State will be back at the M.A.C. Center for a non-conference matchup against nearby Hiram College on Sunday at 2 p.m. The contest begins a four-game homestand that ends on with the Mid-American Conference opener against Buffalo on Jan. 4.
The Golden Flashes (5-3) are No. 9 in this week's Mid-Major Top 25, the program's highest ever ranking in the 13-season history of the poll. Despite a season-high 14 three-point field goals Wednesday evening, Kent State had its four-game win streak ended with a 73-67 setback to host Duquesne. Graduate student Hannah Young led the long-range shooting exhibition with a career-high four triples for 12 points. Junior Casey Santoro was the leading scorer with 13 points and recorded a season-best seven assists.
A pair of former All-Mid-American Conference selections in guard Katie Shumate and forward Lindsey Thall are both averaging 11.8 points per game. Shumate is the second-leading rebound with 5.5 rebounds per contest. The Flashes' all-time leader with 233 triples, Thall ranks 19th among active NCAA Division I players, while ranking 11th in career blocks (180). Guard Hannah Young (6.5 ppg) pulls down a team-high 5.6 rebounds per game.
Guard Corynne Hauser (7.9 ppg) and forward Bridget Dunn (3.1 ppg, 5.4 rpg) lead a strong bench unit that is scoring 20.0 points per contest.
Scouting Hiram
The Terriers (4-3) posted their fourth consecutive win on Wednesday, defeating Kalamazoo College, 59-41. Center/forward Haley Thompson, who has missed the past four games, is Hiram's top scorer at 18.7 points per game. Center Brooke Hickman averages a double-double (15.6 ppg, 12.1 rpg) and has 13 blocked shots. Guard Jocelyn Janda (11.1 ppg) has made 18 three-point at 46.2 percent accuracy and has a team-best 18 steals.
