
Kent State Hosts Otterbein for Education Day on Tuesday

The Kent State women's basketball team returns to action at the M.A.C. Center against Otterbein on Tuesday at 11 a.m. for Education Day presented by PSI.
The Golden Flashes (6-3) are No. 11 in the most recent Mid-Major Top 25, and are coming off a record-setting victory against Hiram, 105-33, on Dec. 11. The 72-point margin of victory is the largest in program history as Kent State scored the most points in a game since Jan. 17, 2000. All 13 Flashes who saw action scored and grabbed a rebound. Senior Katie Shumate led all players with 18 points on 7-of-9 shooting in only 13 minutes. Graduate students Abby Ogle and Annie Pavlansky both finished with a career-high 13 points.
Guard Katie Shumate leads the Flashes at 12.4 points per game while shooting 50.6% from the field. Forward Lindsey Thall adds 11.8 points per game and is Kent State's all-time leader with 233 triples. Thall ranks 20th among active NCAA Division I players, while ranking 11th in career blocks (180). Guard Hannah Young (6.0 ppg) pulls down a team-high 5.7 rebounds per game.
Guard Corynne Hauser (7.2 ppg) and forward Bridget Dunn (3.6 ppg, 5.3 rpg) lead a strong bench unit that is scoring 25.1 points per contest. The Flashes received 66 points from reserves last time out with guard Dionna Gray (4.8 ppg), guard Abby Ogle (3.9 ppg) and guard/forward Annie Pavlansky (4.3 ppg) all scoring in double-figures.
Scouting Otterbein
The Cardinals (5-4) defeated Kenyon, 57-50, on Sunday to improve to 3-1 during December. The lone loss was at No. 8 Baldwin Wallace last Thursday. Otterbein was picked third in the Ohio Athletic Conference preseason poll.
All-conference guard Katie McCrary can score at all three levels and averages a team-high 16.6 points per game. Guard Natalie Galaida (8.4 ppg) is shooting 52.8% from long range and has drained a team-high 19 three-pointers. Guard Jenna Hoscouer (7.3 ppg) is the Cardinals' top rebounder at 6.2 rebounds per contest.

• This will be the first ever meeting on the hardwood between Kent State and Otterbein.
