Women’s Basketball Hosts St. Bonaventure Sunday in Return to M.A.C. Center

The Kent State women's basketball team will be back in action at the M.A.C. Center for the first time in 21 days when it battles St. Bonaventure on Sunday at 2 p.m.
The Golden Flashes (4-2) are on a three-game win streak and jumped to No. 11 in this week's Mid-Major Top 25 poll. Kent State claimed the Christmas City Classic championship trophy last weekend with a 58-55 win over Quinnipiac on Saturday, followed by a 72-66 victory against Southern Illinois in the title game. Graduate student Lindsey Thall earned MVP honors by averaging 19.0 points per game. Junior Casey Santoro averaged 15.0 points per game and also earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team.
Forward Lindsey Thall leads the Flashes at 13.5 points per game and a team-best 13 three-pointers. The Flashes' all-time leader with 231 triples, Thall ranks 16th among active NCAA Division I players, while ranking 10th in career blocks (178). Guard Katie Shumate adds 11.8 points per game and became the 24th player in program history to score 1,000 points earlier this season. Guard Hannah Young pulls down a team-high 6.0 rebounds per game.
Guard Corynne Hauser (6.3 ppg) and forward Bridget Dunn (2.7 ppg, 5.7 rpg) lead a strong bench unit that is scoring 18.5 points per contest.
Scouting St. Bonaventure
The Bonnies (2-6) defeated host Niagara, 61-57, on Friday. A 15-0 run early in the fourth quarter helped them secure their first home win of the season despite 27 turnovers and playing without two starters. St. Bonaventure is averaging 20.4 turnovers per contest and has committed three more turnovers than it has field goals made. The Bonnies had scored 51 or fewer points in three straight games entering the night.
Forward I'yanna Lops (12.3 ppg, 6.0 rpg) has been an eraser near the basket during the team's two games this week, setting a program record with seven blocks against Bucknell on Wednesday and then adding five rejections against Niagara. Guard/forward Maddie Dziezgowski (9.8 ppg) has made a team-best 13 three-point field goals. Guard Nadechka Laccen adds 8.3 points per game and has a team-high 24 assists.
