
Hurdlers Lead the Way Saturday at Indiana Invite

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Kent State track and field team had several outstanding performances, including 14 top-five finishes, on Saturday's final day of competition at the Indiana Invitational.
Alexander Shields won the men's 110-meter hurdles in 14.22 seconds after also running the fastest prelims time (14.19). Jacob Mally tied for fourth in 14.54 seconds after recording a PR (14.45) in the prelims.
Benja Duff ran the second-fastest women's 100-meter hurdles time in Golden Flashes history in the prelims with a time of 13.51 seconds and finished second in the finals (13.57).
Jake Wickey took third in the men's weight throw with a personal-best toss of 220'-0", which puts him sixth on Kent State's all-time performance list.
Alexandre Malanda placed third in the men's triple jump with a mark of 51'-3". Anthony Milliner recorded a season-best jump of 49-2.25" to finish seventh. In the men's long jump, Del'Mario Hairston took fifth with an outdoor PR of 24'-3.50".
Gabby Bailey finished fourth in the women's shot put (53'-4.5") and women's discus throw (175'-6"). Grace Tennant recorded a season-best mark of 52'-9.5" for fifth place in the shot put and finished ninth in the discus (162'-10"). Meghan Daly was sixth in the shot put (47'-7.75") and Aliesha Shaw finished seventh in the discus (166'-3").
Bradley Heck and Scott Benco placed fourth and fifth, respectively, in the men's javelin. Heck had a top throw of 195'-3" and Benco's best attempt went 194'-1". On the women's side, Karlea Duhon placed seventh with a mark of 135'-8".
In the men's 100-meter dash, Asa Hodrick finished fourth in 10.69 seconds and Mondo Colome was right behind in 10.71 seconds. Colome's personal-best time of 10.57 in the prelims is the fastest by a Flashes sprinter this season. Hodrick ran the second leg of Kent State's fourth-place finish in the men's 4x400 relay. Kyle Sommer, Korie Davis II and Jonathan Solomon were also part of the team that finished in a season-best time of 3:12.76. In individual action, Solomon ran an outdoor PR of 48.39 seconds to place 10th in the men's 400-meter dash.
Ruby Greenwood led the women on the track, running a season-best 55.69 and finishing sixth in the 400-meter dash.
Kent State took sixth and seventh in the men's discus, as Nolan Landis had a top throw of 170'-10" and Jeff Neuhaus recorded a personal-best of 169'-10".
Three Flashes finished in the top-10 in the women's hammer throw. Grace Luther (173'-7") led the way in seventh, with Briana Wright (171'-7") placing eighth and Marissa Henley (167'-7") taking 10th.
Lillie Franks led Kent State in the vertical jumps, clearing 5'-6.5" for seventh place in the women's high jump. Leah Pasqualetti took eighth in the women's pole vault with a season-best height of 13'-2.25". Jack McElligott tied for 10th in the men's high jump by clearing 6'-6".
The Flashes will be back in action at the Ashland Alumni Open on Friday, April 29 and Saturday, April 30.
