Kent State faces off against Ball State

The Kent State field hockey team (3-4, 1-0 MAC) is back home this weekend against Ball State (4-2, 1-0 MAC) for another Mid-American Conference matchup.
About the Flashes
The Golden Flashes are coming off a 2-1 victory last Sunday against App State. With both teams going scoreless in the first 45 minutes of the game, the Flashes stayed strong and positive. Agustina Florio was able to make a clean, straight shot into the goal from a penalty corner in the fourth quarter and put Flashes in the lead. Shortly after, Jenna McCrudden sealed Kent State's win with a reverse shot into the top corner of the cage, which scored her second goal of the season.
Maia Sarrabayrouse, Agustina Florio, Jenna McCrudden, and Alex Sacker are all the Flashes point leaders with 2 goals. Cecile van Eijck is ranked number one in the MAC for saves per game with a 7.29 average.
The Flashes are ranked third nationally with 5 defensive saves.

Scouting Ball State
Ball State took on Longwood last weekend for its MAC opener. The Cardinals won 3-2 and overshot the Lancers (16-14) while also leading in penalty corners (7-2).
Freshman Fleur Knopert is ranked third in the MAC in points with 9. She contributed to all three goals against Longwood by scoring two and assisted one.
Ball State head coach, Caitlin Walsh, was an assistant coach at Kent State the past three seasons. She has already led the Cardinals to four wins.
The Series
The Golden Flashes lead the all-time series record over Ball State is 39-33 with the team first meeting in 1981. Currently, the Flashes hold a 12-game win streak against the Cardinals. Last season the Flashes won 2-1 in Muncie. In the past three games at Murphy-Mellis Field, the Flashes have shut out the Cardinals. Ball State has not scored more than one goal against the Flashes since 2013.
