KENT, Ohio – The Kent State field hockey team (4-4, 2-0 MAC) dominated on the field against Ball State (4-3, 1-1 MAC) to win 7-0.
The Golden Flashes came out strong in the first quarter when Larissa Balachick scored her first goal of the season in the first 2 minutes. Entering the second quarter, at 9:19, the Flashes earned a penalty corner and Maria Cambra Soler converted a goal with assists from Larissa Balachick and Danielle Hamm. Keeping up the momentum, Patricia Strunk also scored her first goal off a penalty corner. The Flashes took control of the final quarter with goals from Jenna McCrudden, Maia Sarrabayrouse, Emma Rolston (first goal), and Maria Cambra Soler.
Kent State out shot Ball State 23-3 and had 16 shots on goal over two from the Cardinals. The Flashes also led in penalty corners 5-1.
The Golden Flashes travel to Athens to take on Ohio University on Friday, Sept. 30 at 2 p.m. Then on Sunday, Oct. 2, Flashes face off against Ohio State in Columbus at 1 p.m.
