Kent State Dominates Second Half in 3-2 Win over Bucknell

KENT, Ohio – The Kent State field hockey team won against Bucknell, 3-2, Sunday at Murphy-Mellis Field.
The Golden Flashes (2-2) trailed 2-0 at halftime on a pair of Bison goals off penalty corners just 38 seconds apart in the second quarter.
Kent State picked up the intensity in the third period and got on the board with 5:41 remaining when junior Jenna McCrudden scored off a pass from senior Maria Cambra Soler. The Flashes earned a penalty corner shortly after and junior Alex Sacker scored her first career goal with assists by freshman Maia Sarrabayrouse and junior Victoria Tinghitella. Two minutes later, another penalty corner resulted in a goal by sophomore Agustina Florio with assists from junior Danielle Hamm and Tinghitella.
Kent State led 17-11 in shots, including a 13-2 advantage after halftime, and 8-5 in penalty corners.
Sophomore Cecile van Eijck had 5 saves in cage.
The Flashes will travel to Maine next weekend to take on Hofstra on Saturday, Sept. 10 at 2 p.m. and Maine on Sunday, Sept 11 at 2:30 p.m.
