
Flashes take on Longwood in the final home contest

The Kent State field hockey team (5-9, 3-2 MAC) prepares for the last home contest of the season against Longwood (3-13, 1-4 MAC) on Sunday, Oct. 22 at 12 p.m.
About the Flashes
The Flashes went 2-0 this past weekend by beating first-place Miami (2-1) and Lock Haven (3-1). Sweeping the weekly Mid-American Conference awards, Patricia Strunk was awarded the Offensive Player of the Week and Cecile van Eijck was awarded Defensive Player of the Week. Strunk recorded a penalty stroke goal against the RedHawks and secured four points over the weekend. Van Eijck made a total of 15 saves and is now tied for second in the MAC for saves (74).
Scouting Longwood
The Lancers lost a pair of games by 3-0 scores last weekend to App State and Wake Forest. Ireland McDerrmott is tied for first in the conference for defensive saves (4). Luna Prieri leads the Lancers in goals (4), points (10), and shots on goal (28).
The Series
The Flashes are 10-4 against Longwood. At the last meeting, Kent State won 3-2 in a shootout and led 26-9 in shots.

The Golden Flashes will finish the regular season with road games against Bellarmine on Friday, Oct. 27 at 6 p.m. and Indiana on Sunday, Oct. 29 at 12 p.m.
