KENT Ohio - Kent State Lacrosse coach Brianne Tierney has announced the addition of Margaret Wolford as an assistant coach.
"Margaret brings a wealth of knowledge from across all divisions of college lacrosse," Tierney said. "We are fortunate that Margaret is already in our Golden Flashes Lacrosse family through her younger sister Jackie, so she has watched the team closely over the last four years and has been personally invested. By adding Margaret to the staff, we get someone who has seen our growth as a program and also has a fresh take to add a new voice and perspective to continue our trajectory forward. I know she is excited to get on campus and begin coaching and recruiting for us, and we are every bit as excited to have her here at Kent State."
Wolford has been a Head Girls Lacrosse Coach and Recruiting Coordinator for the Lucky Lax Lacrosse Club in Columbus, Ohio since 2013, where she just finished coaching the 2023 team and led them to have 10 college commits and counting. She is now set to be the head coach of the 2027 team with her sister Jackie Wolford as her assistant coach.
She began her collegiate coaching career as an Assistant Women's Coach at Smith College from 2014-16 and then Assistant Women's Lacrosse Coach at Saint Francis University in 2016. Wolford then became the Head Women's Lacrosse Coach at Wittenberg University, where she led the Tigers for four seasons and had six players earn All-NCAC honors. Most recently Wolford was the Assistant Women's Lacrosse Coach at Georgetown College, where she also served as the Assistant Director of Admissions for Campus Visits and Events- Athletics Liaison.
Wolford played her collegiate lacrosse at Fresno State University where she appeared in 54 games from 2010-13 and was named to the MPSF All-Academic team in 2011, 2012, and 2013. She was named the Bulldogs offensive MVP in 2010.
A 2013 graduate of Fresno State University, Wolford has a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. Wolford also graduated from Smith College with her Master of Science in Exercise and Sports Studies in 2016.
