Columbus, OH… The Kent State men's golf team posted the best result of their spring season, and equaled the best result of their regular season with a runner-up finish at this year's Robert Kepler Invitational.
The Flashes were led by Chris Vandette, who got off to a hot start carding a pair of 69s and never looking back, finishing his tournament right on par in a tie for second individually.
"I'm proud of the guys for getting into a position to win this event," KSU head coach Jon Mills said. "We dealt with some adversity today under very tough conditions but this is good momentum going into the conference championship, and we will have a lot to prove this next week."
This invitational also gave Kent State an opportunity to scout four of their MAC opponents, including Northern Illinois, who put on a strong showing, finishing five strokes back of the Flashes in third place.
With their regular season in the books, the team will now turn its full attention to another title defense at this year's MAC Championship, which is slated to begin on Sunday, April 30th in Athens, Alabama.
