MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. - The Kent State lacrosse team's historic season ended with a loss to Central Michigan, 18-7, in a Mid-American Conference Tournament semifinal contest on Thursday. Kenzie Sklar and Jackie Wolford finished the campaign with 69 goals each and share the MAC's single-season goals record, which was previously 68.
Wolford, the MAC Offensive Player of the Year, scored both first half goals for the Golden Flashes (10-8) to become the program's all-time points leader with 164 through three seasons.
Sklar netted a team-high four goals on the day. The senior scored the 24th free-position goal of her career with 12:56 remaining in the third quarter to tie the program record. Sklar's 14 free-position scores this season are four more than any other Kent State attacker has recorded in a season.
Allie Lee accounted for the Flashes' other goal, finding the back of the net less than three minutes into the final period.
Kent State led in ground balls, 18-15, as Jordan Zablo recorded a career-high five.
Goalkeeper Taylor Monturo made seven saves after entering the game in the second quarter.
Allison Kortowich and Morgan Kubicki finished their careers as the Flashes' all-time games played co-leaders with 57 appearances.
In just the fifth year of program, Kent State captured a share of its first MAC regular season championship with a 7-1 conference record.
