KENT, Ohio — The Kent State women's basketball program has added transfers Mikala Morris (Quinnipiac) and Kaley Perkins (Oklahoma), who both recently arrived to campus for the start of summer workouts. Morris enters her final season of eligibility while Perkins has three seasons remaining.
"Mikala and Kaley are talented players and will add experience competing at the Division I level to our program, which is really important as we replace a large number of minutes played from this past season," head coach Todd Starkey said. "We are excited to have them on campus with our returning players as our team prepares for our foreign tour later in the summer."
Mikala Morris | 6-2, Forward/Center
A four-year starter, Morris averaged 11.2 points and 8.4 rebounds per game as a Bobcat. She is one of two players in the program's Division I history to rank in the top five in blocks (157) and rebounds (857). Morris was named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Defensive Player of the Year in 2021 and was a three-time All-MAAC performer, including a first-team selection in 2021.
Kaley Perkins | 6-0, Guard
Perkins spent the past two years at Oklahoma and appeared in 26 games during the 2021-22 season in which the Sooners won 25 games to earn a No. 4 seed in the NCAA Tournament. The sharpshooter from Houston shot 42.9% from behind the three-point line and averaged 2.6 points per game.
The Golden Flashes are scheduled to play three games during a trip to Greece from Saturday, Aug. 5 through Sunday, Aug. 13.
