
Kent State Hosts Davis & Elkins Tuesday for Annual Education Day Game

The Kent State women's basketball team returns to action at the M.A.C. Center on Monday against Davis & Elkins. The annual Education Day presented by Ohio's 529 College Advantage will tip at 11 a.m. and is expected to be attended by more than 1,000 students from local elementary schools.
The Golden Flashes (4-6) will play in front of their home fans for just the third time this season and have gone 1-4 since a 92-45 beatdown of Niagara on Nov. 16. Last time out, Kent State fell to Marshall, 70-62, on Dec. 6. Â The Flashes had a season-low 13 turnovers but shot just 27-of-77 from the field. Janae Tyler led the way with 16 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Playing in front of a large group of family and friends, Huntington native Dionna Gray stuffed the stat sheet an impressive stat line with eight points, nine assists, and eight rebounds.
Junior Mya Babbitt is the MAC's fourth leading scorer at 15.4 points per game and has two of the top four single-game scoring performances in the league. Babbitt is third in the MAC with 22 three-point field goals and is the Flashes' second leading rebounder (4.7 rpg). Juniors Janae Tyler (10.5 ppg) and Riley Rismiller (7.9 ppg) provide low post options. Rismiller has two double-doubles and ranks eighth in the MAC in rebounding with 7.0 per game. Senior Dionna Gray (4.6 ppg) is fifth in the MAC in assists with 5.0 per game.
Scouting Davis & Elkins
The Senators (1-8) beat Salem, 73-60, on Wednesday for their win of the season and are scheduled to play at Point Park on Saturday. Monday's contest with be Davis & Elkins' fourth in six days.
Guard Jahniya Marion leads the team with averages of 12.9 points and 2.5 assists per game. Forward/guard Kaitlyn Parker (8.6 ppg, 4.1 rpg) and forward Kylie Morris (7.9 ppg, 4.3 rpg) are the top rebounders.
