
Kent State voted second in MAC in Field Hockey Preseason Coaches’ Poll

CLEVELAND - The Kent State field hockey team has been voted to finish second in the Mid-American Conference, as the conference office announced the preseason coaches' poll Wednesday afternoon.
The Golden Flashes totaled 59 points, finishing only six behind Miami. The RedHawks received six first-place votes and were picked to win the MAC Tournament. Kent State and Miami have shared the regular season title each of the past two seasons.
The top four teams in the regular season standings will compete for the 2023 MAC Field Hockey Tournament championship and automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Miami will serve as host again with the semifinals scheduled for Friday, Nov. 3 and followed by the championship on Saturday, Nov. 4.
Kent State kicks off the season this weekend in Virginia with matches against No. 14 Liberty on Friday, Aug. 25 and VCU on Sunday, Aug. 27.
