
Golden Flashes Begin Conference Play at Central Michigan

The Kent State field hockey team (1-5) travels to Central Michigan to open Mid-American Conference play on Friday, Sept. 15 at 3 p.m. The Flashes are back at Murphy-Mellis Field on Sunday, Sept. 17 to take on No. 8 Michigan at 12 p.m.
About the Flashes
In Pennsylvania last week, Kent State fell 5-0 against No. 11 Penn State. It was 1-0 at the half and Cecile van Eijck finished with six saves. On Sunday, the Flashes fell in a close matchup against Bucknell 2-1. Emma Rolston scored in the second quarter off a penalty corner from an assist by Patricia Strunk. The Bison scored twice in the final five minutes. Cecile van Eijck made a season-high nine saves at Bucknell.
Scouting Central Michigan
The Chippewas (1-4) were outscored 17-0 this past weekend against No. 1 Iowa and UMass Lowell. Amelia Lane leads the team with two goals.
Scouting No. 8 Michigan
The Wolverines (4-2) have outscored opponent 15-1 during the current four game win streak. Alana Richardson leads Michigan with three goals. Four of the Wolverines have two goals each.
The Series
The Flashes are 59-16 over the Chippewas. In the last matchup, Kent State won 5-0 and outshot Central Michigan 25-3.
The Wolverines are 14-4-3 against the Flashes. In 2021, both teams went scoreless until the third quarter and were tied 1-1 going into the fourth. Michigan took the lead and won 2-1. This is the first time Kent State has hosted Michigan at Murphy-Mellis Field.
