Flashes fall to No. 8 Michigan

KENT, Ohio - The Kent State field hockey team (2-6) fell 3-1 to No. 8 Michigan (5-3) this afternoon.
In the first quarter, the Wolverines converted a penalty corner early to take the lead 1-0. For the second quarter, Flashes led in shots 3-0 and corners 3-0.
To tie the game 1-1 in the third, Katie Wuerstle scored off a deflection in a penalty corner from an assist by Iris Bekker. Michigan responded quickly when they scored two minutes later to take the lead 2-1. Finding their momentum, the Wolverines scored again off a penalty corner.
In the fourth quarter, each team recorded one shot and the final resulted 3-1. Michigan led in shots 12-8 and both teams had five corners.
Up next, the Flashes take on Ohio University at home on Friday, Sept. 22 at 3 p.m.
