KENT, Ohio – It was announced on Tuesday that Eva Usoz has won the MAC Offensive Player of the Week award. This comes after a weekend where the sophomore tallied three goals in two games and helped the Flashes to a 2-1 victory over Longwood to improve to 2-0 in MAC conference play.
Usoz scored both goals in Friday's victory over the Lancers. Both of her goals in the Longwood match were unassisted, occurring at the end of solo efforts in which Usoz bypassed multiple defenders before finding the back of the cage. The reigning MAC Freshman of the Year also recorded a defensive save in the fourth quarter to help the Flashes secure a 2-1 victory in Farmville, the team's first road victory of the season.
Usoz wrapped up her weekend with a goal against ACC opponent Wake Forest on Sunday. She successfully converted a penalty quarter, assisted by Emma Rolston and Arden Goddard-Despot, to give the Flashes the lead midway through the second quarter. Kent State was unable to hold the lead, ultimately falling 3-1 to the Demon Deacons.
The Flashes and Usoz return to action on Friday as they host App State at Murphy-Mellis in the third MAC contest of the season at 2 p.m.
