KENT, Ohio - The Kent State field hockey team (5-10, 4-2 MAC) is set for a senior day clash with Bellarmine at Murphy-Mellis Field on Friday. The Flashes' final home game of the season is slated for a 3 p.m. start time.
About the Flashes
Kent State is coming off of an extremely successful weekend of MAC play. The Flashes recorded a 7-3 win over Central Michigan last Friday, scoring three goals in the opening six minutes to ignite a dominant victory. Two-goal efforts from Delfina Larripa and Maybritt Duwel, in addition to a goal and two assists from Eva Usoz, highlighted the Flashes' win. Kent State made it back-to-back wins on Sunday with a dramatic 2-1 overtime win at Ohio. After Agustina Florio scored the Flashes' only goal in regulation, Usoz scored a phenomenal goal from a near-impossible angle to secure the victory. With a two-goal and two-assist weekend, Usoz earned MAC Offensive Player of the Week honors for the second time this season. After last weekend's results, the Flashes can clinch their spot in the MAC tournament with a win on Friday or a loss by one of three competing teams.
Scouting Bellarmine
The Knights enter Friday's matchup with a 3-11 record on the season and 1-5 in MAC play. Bellarmine had two road contests this past weekend, falling 6-0 at James Madison on Friday before being edged out 2-1 at Towson on Sunday. The Knights are led offensively by Anna Crump, who has team highs of five goals and four assists.
The Series
The Flashes are undefeated all-time against Bellarmine, leading the series 5-0 and outscoring the Knights 25-1. Friday will mark just the second time the two schools have met in Kent with the first taking place in 2022. The Flashes won last season's meeting in Louisville 1-0.
