CLEVELAND, Ohio – It was announced on Tuesday that Lauren Conroy has won the MAC Defensive Player of the Week award for the first time in her career following a massive performance in the Flashes' 3-2 senior-day victory over Bellarmine.
Conroy was crucial to Friday's win, which saw the Flashes officially clinch a spot in the upcoming postseason MAC tournament, as she scored the first two goals of her career in the match. The junior defender opened her account in the second quarter, finishing a penalty corner attempt by redirecting a ball from Maia Sarrabayrouse into the back of the cage to give the Flashes a 1-0 lead. She then doubled the Kent State lead in the third quarter, scoring an extremely similar redirect goal at the end of a penalty corner routine, assisted by Agustina Florio. Beyond recording a brace on the scoresheet, Conroy contributed to a strong defensive effort that saw the Flashes close out a victory in the final home match of the season at Murphy-Mellis Field.
Conroy and the Flashes have one test remaining before kicking off the MAC tournament, as they will head to Oxford to face Miami in the team's regular-season finale on Friday, November 1, at 2 p.m.
