
Kent State Back in Action Against Xavier on Saturday

Kent State hosts Xavier for a 1 p.m. tip on Saturday at the M.A.C. Center.
The Golden Flashes (2-3) got back in the win column by beating Duquesne, 81-61, on Wednesday evening. In her first action of the season, junior Dionna Gray led all scorers with a career-high 20 points to go with seven rebounds, five assists and three steals. Sophomore Mya Babbitt played the best game of her career against a Division I opponent and added 14 points and six rebounds. Seniors Jenna Batsch (13 points) and Bridget Dunn (11 points) also scored in double-figures and grabbed seven boards each. Sophomore Janae Tyler recorded a team-high eight rebounds and scored five points in her season debut.
Preseason All-MAC First Team selection Jenna Batsch is the top scorer on the season at 13.8 points per game. Batsch has been one of the primary ballhandlers in the opening weeks and has a team-high 13 assists. Riley Rismiller, a transfer from Dayton, has made an immediate impact with averages of 11.8 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. Bridget Dunn ranks fourth in the Mid-American Conference in rebounding (9.4 rpg) and has grabbed double-digit boards in three games.
Scouting Xavier
The Musketeers (3-1) will play away from home at the Cintas Center for the first time this season. After falling to San Jose State in the opener, Xavier has defeated Miami (Ohio), Mercyhurst and Arkansas State.
Forward Loren Christie leads the way with averages of 9.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game. Guards Daniela Lopez (8.0 ppg) and Julia Garcia Roig (7.0 ppg) have provided offensive spark off the bench.
