The Kent State men's golf team placed 12th out of 14 teams the past two days at the Hal Williams Collegiate, hosted by the University of South Alabama.
Jordan Gilkison was the Golden Flashes top finisher tying for 36th (+2) among the 80 player field. Gilkison has now finished inside the top 30 in all five tournaments played in the 2023-24 season.
Gilkison tied for a team best round of 68 (-3) on the final day, while teammate James Newton matched the same score from holes 18-36.
"Obviously disappointed in the result. Struggled on the greens," said head coach Jon Mills. "Definitely not the start we wanted but you have to self reflect and use it as motivation for the next event," said Mills.
Newton, playing in his first tournament with the Golden Flashes, was the other golfer to secure a top 50 finish, tying for 41st at three over par.

Kent State will return to action in just under two weeks playing in the Dorado Beach Classic in Dorado, Puerto Rico. The event will be hosted by UNC Greensboro.
