Golden Flashes Continue Season in Minnesota for Gopher Invitational

KENT, Ohio – The Kent State Herb Page Men's Golf team is heading to Independence, Minnesota on Saturday for the Gopher Invitational.
The Golden Flashes will travel 800 miles to the Windsong Farm Golf Club in Independence, Minn., a half hour west of the host school, the University of Minnesota. The event features power conference schools such as Cincinnati, Georgia, Oklahoma, and Rutgers. MAC opponent Miami (OH) is also competing in the tournament.

The Gopher Invitational will technically start on Saturday as the individuals compete. Then, the three rounds of team golf will take place over Sunday and Monday.

Kent State finished 7th out of 15 teams in the 2024 Gopher Invitational with a +20 total in the tournament and an impressive +2 in the first round.

Iowa State is back in the tournament after winning the Gopher Invitational championship in 2024. Other returning teams - Minnesota, Nebraska, Rutgers and Marquette - also finished higher than the Golden Flashes the last time they were in Independence.

Isaiah Ibit clinched a top-20 finish in his first collegiate tournament in the 2024 Gopher Invitational.

The Golden Flashes are coming off a 12th place team finish in the Canadian Collegiate Invitational. Christoffer Leuenhagen led the team with a +4 final and a 13th place individual finish.
