KENT, Ohio — Kent State women's basketball head coach Todd Starkey announced the 2024-25 schedule for the reigning Mid-American Conference Tournament champions on Friday.
The Golden Flashes' 30-game slate includes matchups with six teams coming off 20-win campaigns, including national semifinalist NC State.
"This has the potential to be one of our best non-conference schedules in recent memory," Starkey said. "It will be nice to have three home games during November, and it is exciting to bring teams from the Atlantic 10 and Big East, leagues that finished in the top-8 in NET last season, to the M.A.C. Center. Playing NC State at historic Reynolds Coliseum and two games in Puerto Rico provide opportunities to see how our team stacks up against high-level teams and memorable experiences for our student-athletes. Road games against Niagara and Coppin State teams that showed much improvement a year ago will also prepare us, once again, for a very tough MAC season."
Non-Conference Schedule
Kent State opens the campaign with two games in front of the home crowd at the M.A.C. Center, beginning Nov. 4 against James Madison as part of the second edition of the MAC-Sun Belt Challenge and then against Walsh on Nov. 7.
For the second season in a row, the Golden Flashes will battle a team coming off a Final Four appearance on the road when they play at NC State on Nov. 14. The two-game trip to the Tar Heel State concludes two days later against Elon on Nov. 16.
Kent Sate then hosts Duquesne on Nov. 20 and Xavier on Nov. 23 for return games from last season.
Making an international trip for the third time in the past six years, and first during the competition season, the Flashes will head to San Juan for a pair of games at the Puerto Rico Clasico. Kent State will play Brown on Nov. 28 and Colorado State on Nov. 29.
After playing at Niagara on Dec. 5, the Flashes will host Virginia University of Lynchburg for the annual Kids Day matchup on Dec. 16. Kent State then heads to Coppin State on Dec. 19 and closes the month back at the M.A.C. Center on Dec. 29 against John Carroll.
The final non-league game will be played on Feb. 8 as the Flashes will travel to a to-be-determined opponent as part of the MAC-Sun Belt Challenge.
MAC Schedule
For the first time since the 2018-19 season, Kent State's conference schedule starts with two home games, as Bowling Green comes to the M.A.C. Center on Jan. 1 and then Buffalo on Jan. 4.
The Flashes are scheduled to play Akron, Ball State, Bowling Green, Buffalo, Miami, Northern Illinois and Toledo twice each. Kent State will play just one time against Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Ohio and Western Michigan.
The top eight teams in the conference standings will compete in the 2025 MAC Women's Basketball Tournament at Cleveland's Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse from March 12-15.
