LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Kent State field hockey team surpassed the halfway point of MAC play on Friday, defeating Bellarmine 3-0 in the team's fifth conference contest of 2025. The Golden Flashes (3-8, 2-3) pick up their second consecutive road victory in the MAC after defeating Ball State 1-0 in overtime just under two weeks ago in Muncie.
The Kent State defense held the Knights to just four shots in the contest, as Allison Wood earned her second shutout of the season with one save. The Flashes extend their unbeaten record against Bellarmine, now holding a 7-0 advantage in the all-time series with the Knights.
Kent State tallied two first-quarter goals to establish an early advantage that the team would hold for the entire game. Lauren Conroy opened the scoring after five minutes with a successful penalty stroke after a foul drawn by Maia Sarrabayrouse. A senior defender, Conroy ranks third on the team with four goals this season. Eva Usoz doubled the Flashes' advantage just four minutes later with an impressive shot into the top corner from the edge of the arc. Kent State's 2024 leading scorer, Usoz, now has three goals in her 2025 campaign.
The Flashes received extra insurance in the third quarter as Emma Seger grabbed the team's third goal. A Louisville native, Seger made her mark on her homecoming appearance for her third goal of the season. A stout defensive effort in which Kent State conceded just one shot on target and one penalty corner across the entire game allowed the Flashes to close a comfortable 3-0 victory.
Kent State will return to action on Friday, October 17, with the team's penultimate home game of 2025 at Murphy-Mellis Field as the Flashes host Ohio at 2 p.m.
