Hanselman Races to Second at Falcon Invite

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio — Freshman Michael Hanselman placed second in the men's 8K on Friday as Kent State finished fifth in both the men's and women's team standings at the Falcon Invitational.
Hanselman was the first Golden Flash across the finish line for the men for the fourth time in as many races this season and recorded a time of 25:16.9. A pack of teammates finished the race a little more than a minute later. Freshman Owen Kelly (26:17.7) placed 34th, freshman Tanner Smith (26:22.7) placed 36th, graduate student Carter Almady (26:28.7) placed 39th and junior Jack Curtis (26:35.1) placed 42nd.
The women were led by freshman Camille Dunifer, who placed 18th in 22:20.5. Graduate student Grace Smith was the next Flash across the finish line in 22:33.9 for 25th place. Sophomore Nora Salem (23:08.9, 40th), junior Ella McCollom (23:13.8, 44th) and freshman Aurora Streleckis (23:19.8, 48th) also contributed to the team score.
Kent State's next competition will be the Mid-American Conference Cross Country Championships, which will be held on Saturday, Nov. 1 at Audubon Golf Course in Buffalo.
