10/28/2025 3:26:00 PM | Women's Basketball
The Kent State women's basketball program continues preparation for the 2025-26 campaign with an exhibition contest against Pitt-Johnstown at 7 p.m. Wednesday inside of the M.A.C. Center.
Led by 10th-year head coach Todd Starkey, the Golden Flashes are ranked No. 10 in the preseason Mid-Major Top 25 poll and were voted as the favorite in the Mid-American Conference preseason poll.
Juniors Janae Tyler and Mya Babbitt received Preseason All-MAC honors. Tyler was voted to the first team after posting averages of 11.6 points and 5.0 rebounds per contest and earning All-MAC honorable mention recognition last season. Babbitt was a second team selection and is among the nation's best shooters. She made a program record 83 three-point field goals made with 41.3% accuracy from behind the arc during her sophomore campaign.
Scouting Pitt-Johnstown
The Mountain Cats bring back four starters from last year's team that finished with a 3-24 record. Camille Dominick, Angel Ezirim and Liv West led the way with seven points each in a 101-46 exhibition game at Pitt on Sunday.
Next Up for Kent State
The Golden Flashes will start the regular season with a pair of tough road tests next week. The opener will be against mid-major power James Madison as part of the MAC-Sun Belt on Nov. 3, and Kent State will then visit a West Virginia team receiving votes in both national polls on Nov. 7.
