
Kent State Visits Duquesne on Monday to Start Busy Week

Kent State looks to begin a new winning streak on Monday when it makes the trip to UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse for a 6 p.m. matchup with Duquesne.
The Golden Flashes (3-3) trailed by one at halftime Wednesday night at Ohio State, but a third quarter filled with foul and turnover problems resulted in the second half resulted in an 88-68 final score. Mya Babbitt had a career night with 30 points on 9-of-13 shooting, including six three-pointers. Janae Tyler battled inside against taller players and added 13 points.
Junior Mya Babbitt is the Mid-American Conference's third leading scorer at 16.5 points per game. Babbitt ranks 21st in the nation with 16 three-point field goals and has scored in double-figures in five consecutive games. The sharpshooter is second on the team with 4.8 rebounds per game. After a slow start to her junior campaign, Janae Tyler (10.0 ppg) has averaged 15.7 points on 51.6% shooting over the last three games. Redshirt junior Corynne Hauser (9.2 ppg) is averaging 15.0 points per contest when playing more than 21 minutes. Senior Dionna Gray (4.3 ppg) ranks sixth in the MAC in assists with 4.8 per game and junior Riley Rismiller (7.3 ppg) ranks seventh in rebounding with 7.5 boards per contest.
Scouting Duquesne
The Dukes (4-1) are no longer unbeaten following a 64-62 loss at Robert Morris on Tuesday. Duquesne has been among the best rebounding teams in the nation and ranks third in offensive rebounds per game (21.6), fifth in rebounding margin (+19.2) and sixth in rebounds per game (50.6). Aided by the 10th highest scoring bench in the country (37.0 ppg), the Dukes sit 20th in points per game (86.6).
Six different players are averaging double-digit points. Nadia Moore (15.0 ppg) had almost as many points (30) as minutes played (31) over the first two games but has not appeared in the last three contests. Harriet Ford (13.3 ppg, 9.3 rpg) has recorded a double-double in two of the three games she has played. Alexis Bordas (13.8 ppg), Gabby Grantham-Medley (11.4 ppg), Dunja Zecevic (11.4 ppg) and Mackenzie Blackford (11.2 ppg) have also been scoring threats.
