KENT, Ohio – The Kent State women's lacrosse team announced on Monday the addition of Sarah Rech to the team as a new assistant coach. Rech joins head coach Brianne Tierney's staff as the third assistant coach for the Flashes, alongside Amanda Glass and Allison Kortowich.
Rech is a graduate of the University of Akron, where she received a Bachelor of Business Administration in marketing in 2023 and a graduate certificate in strategic leadership in 2024. At Akron, she was a five-year member of the school's lacrosse team, serving as a team captain and starting all 16 games for the Zips in 2024 as a graduate student.
Prior to joining the Kent State staff, Rech served as a head coach of Maxim Lacrosse Club in Cleveland and Palms Lacrosse Club in Tampa since 2020. Additionally, she was an assistant coach for Pittsburgh Premier Lacrosse from 2022 to 2024.Â
"Coach Rech joins us after a stellar playing career at Akron where she was a student-athlete from the inception of the Women's Lacrosse program", head coach Brianne Tierney said. "She is, obviously, no stranger to the conference and understands deeply all of our MAC opponents, having faced off against them herself for the past five years. Coach Rech brings youthful energy and curiosity to our staff and we are so grateful to our donors for providing the opportunity to add a fourth coach this season!"
Rech joins the Flashes ahead of the 2025 season, which is set to begin on Friday, February 7, at George Mason. The contest is set for a 6 p.m. start. The Flashes' first home contest is slated for Thursday, February 20, when Kent State hosts Presbyterian at 4 p.m.
