OXFORD- The Kent State Golden Flashes baseball team dropped the rubber match to the Miami RedHawks by a score of 3-9.
The RedHawks would open the game with a pair of runs in each of the first two innings to jump out to an early 4-0 lead.
Hayden Jatczak would get the Flashes on the board with an RBI double in the top of the third inning. His MAC leading 20th double on the 2025 season.
Miami would answer back with a run of their own in the bottom of the fourth.
Kent State would get two more runs in the top of the fifth thanks to a Micah Rienstra-Kiracofe RBI triple and a sacrifice fly off the bat of Luke Matthews.
Miami would score four in the bottom half of the fifth inning to extend their lead back out to six runs.
Both teams would go scoreless from the sixth to the ninth inning on thanks to some strong pitching out of the Kent State bullpen from Nick Guidas and Alex Alberico. The two would combine for two shutout innings.
The Flashes would mount a two-out comeback in the top of the ninth with back-to-back home runs by Jatczak and Jake Casey. Jatczak's was a three-run blast over the wall in left and Casey followed it up with a rocket over the wall in right. Brody Williams would reach base and bring the tying run to the plate but the Flashes could not comlete the comeback.
