
Coach Duncan Becomes Winningest Coach in Program History as Flashes Run Rule Penguins

KENT- The Kent State Golden Flashes baseball team took down the Youngstown State Penguins in run rule fashion on Wednesday night by a score of 14-4.
Wednesday night's victory marked the 374th in Head Coach Jeff Duncan's illustrious Kent State career passing Rick Rembielak for the most in program history.
Youngstown State would open the scoring in the top of the second plating one run on a solo homer.
Kent State would respond with three runs in the bottom of the second with Sawyer Solitaria coming in to score on an error by the Penguin's second baseman, Micah Rienstra-Kiracofe would follow it up with an RBI groundout, and then the former Penguin, Alejandro Covas, would drive in the third run of the inning on a single up with middle.
The Flashes would break the game open scoring seven runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Brody Williams would kick off the inning with a solo shot over the wall in centerfield. Landon Tiesing and Luke Matthews would bring in one a piece on RBI singles. Tiesing would score on a double play. Solitaria would bring in two on a triple out to left center and come in to score on a wild pitch.
Matt Thompson would score in the bottom of the sixth one a first and third double steal and Max Humphrey would come in on a bases loaded hit by pitch.
The Penguins would force a bottom of the seventh getting three on a home run to left field.
Kent State would walk it off in the bottom of the seventh thanks to an RBI double by Jake Casey and end it on a bases loaded walk by Kolton Schaller.
Brody Krzysiak got his first start on the mound in a Kent State uniform going three innings and allowed just one run on one hit and struck out two. Eric Chalus followed up Krzysiak with two shutout innings striking out three Penguins. Benny Roebuck would pitch a clean sixth inning allowing just one hit and striking out one. Nick Guidas and Caden Leonard would combine for three out in the seventh inning.
On Deck for the Flashes
Coach Duncan and the Flashes will be back at Schoonover this weekend Apr. 25-27 as the rival Akron Zips come to the friendly confines of Schoonover Stadium. The two teams are slated for a 6 p.m. first pitch on Friday, 3 p.m. on Saturday, and 1 p.m. on Sunday.
