KENT, Ohio – The Kent State lacrosse team played its 2025 season finale on Saturday, falling 13-11 to Youngstown State on senior day at Dix Stadium. The Flashes honored five seniors ahead of their final Kent State appearance: Chloe Benadum, Megan Cook, Sidney Dering, Allie Lee, and Ella Gravitt.
The Flashes (6-11, 1-5) took an early 2-0 lead thanks to goals by Morgan Halli and Lizzie Lundeen, which were each assisted by Cook in her final game for Kent State. The Penguins responded by showing their offensive ability, scoring eight of the next nine goals to take an 8-3 lead midway through the second quarter. Lundeen found the back of the net twice before the half to cut the halftime deficit to 8-5 and complete a first-half hat trick.
Kent State came out strong in the second half, drawing within one goal of Youngstown State by scoring three of the first four in the third quarter. Lundeen added another before Meghan Haddow scored just her fourth goal of the season, and Halli completed a hat trick with a woman-down goal to make the score 9-8. The Flashes and Penguins traded goals to end the third quarter, with Lundeen finding her fifth of the day to tighten the score to 10-9 entering the final quarter of play.
Pyeton Gellin scored twice in the final period to surpass the double-digit goal mark for 2025, improving to 11 on the season. However, her pair of goals proved not to be enough as the Penguins recorded three goals in the fourth quarter to secure a 13-11 win in the season finale.
Lundeen finished the day with her third five-goal performance of the season, finishing 2025 second on the team with 34 goals, trailing just Zayda Crumpton with 37. Camryn Meek led the Flashes defensively against Youngstown State, tallying team-highs of three caused turnovers and four ground balls. Gellin posted a team-best four draw controls on the day, while Sydney Davis led the way in net with four saves.
Saturday's contest marks the end of the 2025 campaign for Kent State.
