
Jones Defends Short Sprints Titles to Lead Flashes at MAC Outdoor T&F Championships

ATHENS, Ohio – Kent State sprinter Jaheim Jones won individual titles in the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash for the second year in a row to lead Kent State in action on Saturday as the 2025 Mid-American Conference Men's Track and Field Championship came to a close. The Golden Flashes totaled 167.25 points to finish second for the third year in a row.
Jones claimed gold in the 100m with a time of 10.44 seconds and later raced to victory in the 200m in 20.73 seconds.
Ayden Bath won his second event of the meet with a time of 13.97 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles. Bath also scored in the high jump, clearing 6'-6" to tie for sixth place.
Alexandre Malanda soared 51'-4.75" to earn his second triple jump gold in the past three years.
Connor Boland and Dylan McBride both recorded personal-best times for second-place finishes. Boland clocked a time of 47.18 seconds for the eighth fastest 400-meter dash time in Flashes history, while McBride finished the 800-meter run in 1:50.90.
Sean Callahan Jr. and Zane Cattage posted third-place finishes. Callahan Jr. sprinted to a time of 10.59 in the 100m dash and Cattage cleared 6'-7.75" in the high jump.
Kent State had four freshmen combine for 34 points on Saturday. Beau Harkelroad led the way with second-place finishes in both the 110m hurdles (14.44) and 400-meter hurdles (52.38). Ryan Gruss finished third in the 200m dash (20.91) and fourth in the 100m dash (10.63). Nicolas Saviron took third in the triple jump with a top mark of 47'-11". Preston Rieger recorded an outdoor season-best time of 1:52.93 for fifth in the 800m run.
Zamen Siyoum (fourth in 400m hurdles), Ethan Yost (fifth in 1500m) and Owen Miller (sixth in 400m hurdles) also scored in individual races.
The 4x400-meter relay team closed the meet with a third-place finish. Boland, Fabio Justo, Miller and Harkelroad finished fourth in 3:16.74.
