
Women’s Golf Set to Begin NCAA Tournament at Columbus Regional

KENT, Ohio – The Kent State women's golf team tees off NCAA tournament play on Monday with the opening round of the Columbus Regional from OSU Golf Club. Fresh off a 26th consecutive MAC title, the Golden Flashes are making their 24th consecutive NCAA regional appearance.

Notes:
- In 23 NCAA Regional appearances, Kent State has advanced to the NCAA Championship eight times. The Flashes appeared in four consecutive Championships spanning from 2017 to the team's last appearance in 2021.
- The team's best NCAA Regional finish came in 2019, when the Flashes won the Lansing Regional at 4-under-par.
- Kent State put up a dominant performance in the 2025 MAC Championship to qualify for the NCAA tournament, winning by 28 strokes and placing all five competing golfers in the top eight.
- Three Flashes tied for runner-up honors at the MAC Championship, with the freshman trio of Isabella Goyette, Gracie Larsen, and Aryn Matthews tying for second at 3-over-par.
- Head coach Casey VanDamme was named MAC Coach of the Year for the third time in four years in charge of Kent State after extending the program's MAC Championship streak to 26.
- Veronika Kedronova claimed the MAC Golfer of the Year award, in addition to First Team All-MAC honors, after a sophomore season that included two individual wins, a team-best 72.66 scoring average, 14 rounds of par or better, and five rounds in the 60s.
- Larsen claimed MAC Freshman of the Year, also earning First Team All-MAC honors, for a debut season that featured a runner-up finish at the MAC Championship, a 74.97 scoring average, and eight rounds of par or better.
- Goyette earned a First Team All-MAC distinction as a freshman after an opening season featuring a runner-up finish at the MAC Championship and five rounds of par or better. She is one of just two Kent State golfers to post a round in the 60s this season, including a team-best 66 in the opening round of the Briar's Creek Invitational.
- Leon Takagi used a strong Spring season to earn her second consecutive First Team All-MAC distinction. She posted six rounds of par or better this season, all coming in the Spring, leading to a tied eighth-place finish at the MAC Championship.
- Matthews was the third freshman to finish as a runner-up at the MAC Championship. She earned a Second Team All-MAC selection with a 75.72 scoring average and four top-15 finishes in her freshman season.
