
Flashes Host Western Michigan for Senior Weekend

KENT- The Kent State Golden Flashes Baseball will return to the friendly confines of Schoonover Stadium for their last home stand of the 2025 season as they host the Western Michigan Broncos for a three-game Mid-American Conference series.
Join us at the ballpark on Friday for s special pregame graduation ceremony for our graduating senior class. Sunday will be senior day at Schoonover as we honor our 2025 senior class with a special pregame ceremony.
All three games will be streamed for free on BoxCast. Live stats will also be provided.
About The Flashes
Kent State enters senior weekend at 31-15 on the season and in a three-way tie atop to MAC standings at 18-6 on conference play. Last weekend the Flashes took the series over Ball state on the road. Kent State took game one by a score of 20-8, fell in game two 1-2, and came out on top in the rubber match 10-6.
The Flashes have been one of the best offensive teams in the country this spring, as they're currently ranked second in the country in scoring at 9.7 runs per game. Additionally, they're ninth in D1 in average (.319), ninth in OBP (.433), 12th in slugging (.543), and 10th in doubles (11). Kent State also loves to run wild on the base path stealing 107 bases on the season, good for 41 higher than the second highest team in the conference
Kent State sophomore, Jacob Bean, pitched another gem in a no decision on Saturday. The right-hander went seven innings, allowing just one run, and struck out six Cardinals.
Junior catcher, Brody Williams, was named MAC Player of the Week following his outstanding week. The Flashes' backstop recorded multiple hits in all four games for Kent State last week. The Eddyville Ky. Native started the week out with a bang going 2-3 in Tuesday's win over Pitt-Johnstown recording two hits, one home run, three RBIs, and two runs scored. The junior got off to a hot start over the weekend in Muncie going 3-5 in the series opener with two home runs, five runs batted in, and two runs scored. Williams recorded a pair of hits on Saturday and another two in Sunday's rubber match. In the series finale Williams roped a massive RBI double out to left field to give the Flashes an insurance run en route to a big series win on the road.

Scouting the Opposition
Western Michigan enters the weekend 18-27 and are currently sitting at sixth in the MAC with a 11-13 record in conference play. The Broncos are currently riding a six-game win streak that includes a pair of midweek wins over Valparaiso, a weekend sweep of in-state rival Central Michigan, and most recently a big 6-5 walk off win over Michigan State on Wednesday.
The ace for the Broncos has been left-hander Joey Wizceb who is coming off a complete game three-hit shutout to secure a series win over Central Michigan. It is the first complete game for the Broncos since 2016. Wizceb was awarded with MAC Pitcher of the Week honors, the league office announced on Monday.
Tanner Mally has been a driving force for the Broncos offense playing and starting in 44 of the Broncos 45 games leading them in batting average (.354), OPS. (.886), runs scored (42), hits (63), doubles (10), and triples (3). Mally is also second on the team in total bases (79) and stolen bases (16).
