WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Kent State women's golf team concluded its opening tournament of the 2025-26 season on Tuesday with the third round of the Boilermaker Classic at Kampen-Cosler Golf Course. The Golden Flashes posted their best score of the event in round three, a 2-over-par 290, to clinch a third-place finish at 12-over-par.
The Ole Miss Rebels narrowly held on to their second-round lead on Tuesday, edging out Indiana by one stroke to claim the team title at 2-under-par, with the Hoosiers coming in at 1-under-par. The Flashes finished two strokes ahead of tournament host Purdue, who claimed the fourth-place spot at 14-over-par.
The Flashes' highest individual finish at the Boilermaker Classic was earned by Leon Takagi. The senior from Tokyo concluded her tournament with a 1-under-par 71 in round three, featuring three birdies to just two bogeys, to open the Fall with a fifth-place individual finish among the 80 golfers competing at 2-under-par. Takagi surpasses her tally of top-five finishes in the 2024-25 season, with a seventh-place finish being her best last season.
After earning eight top-ten finishes last season, Veronika Kedronova opens the 2025-26 season with an eighth-place finish at the Boilermaker Classic. The junior fired a team-best 2-under-par 70 on Tuesday, tallying four birdies and just two bogeys on the day to finish at 1-under-par after 54 holes. The reigning MAC Golfer of the Year was in contention for the individual title for much of the day on Tuesday, but two late bogeys and surges from other golfers kept Kedronova away from the podium.
Aryn Matthews had her best round of the week on Tuesday as she was the third Flash to record a third-round score under par. The Canadian sophomore totaled a team-best five birdies across her final round to card a 1-under-par 71, climbing to 8-over-par for the tournament and rising 13 spots up the individual leaderboard on Tuesday to claim a tie for 25th place.
Kent State's final score countable toward the team total on Tuesday came from Petra Babicova, who fired a 6-over-par 78 to finish the week at 15-over-par and tied for 51st. Isabella Goyette posted a 7-over-par 79 in round three to finish at 10-over-par and tied for 35th. Gracie Larsen, competing as an individual this week, shot a 5-over-par 77 in round three to conclude the Boilermaker Classic at 17-over-par and tied for 56th.
The Golden Flashes will return to action this Sunday, September 8, as the team takes part in the Wolverine Classic at U-M Golf Course.
