
Flashes in Third Through 18 Holes at Pan Pacific Golf Super League

MISHIMA, Japan – The Kent State men's golf team opened the 2025-26 season on Wednesday across the Pacific with round one of the Pan Pacific Golf Super League contested at Grand Fields Country Club. The Golden Flashes posted a 3-over-par 287 in the opening round to sit in third place among the 12 teams competing.
Kent State currently holds the highest position among the three American schools competing in Japan, two strokes ahead of Long Island and five strokes ahead of George Washington, who are at 5-over-par and 8-over-par, respectively. Tohoku Fukushi University, from Japan, lead the tournament at 11-under-par ahead of round two.
Kent State was led in round one by reigning MAC Freshman of the Year Isaiah Ibit. The Canadian international posted a team-best 3-under-par 68 in round one to sit tied for fifth place entering Thursday's second round. Ibit begins his sophomore season with a round in the 60s after tallying 13 rounds in the 60s as a freshman in 2024-25.
Christoffer Leuenhagen made his debut as a Flash on Wednesday with an impressive performance in round one, firing a 1-under-par 70 to begin his collegiate career. The freshman from Denmark joined Kent State after an impressive junior career in Europe featuring multiple wins. Leuenhagen is tied for 11th place among the 59 golfers in the field.
Ramiro Acevedo opened his sophomore season with Kent State's third-best score of round one, carding a 2-over-par 73 to sit tied for 18th ahead of Thursday's second round. Freshman Liam Curtis and sophomore Nolan Haynes tied for the Flashes' final score countable toward the team total in round one, each recording a 5-over-par 76. The pair is tied for 38th place at the end of Wednesday's opening round.
The Golden Flashes will continue to compete at the Pan Pacific Golf Super League this week, with round two set for Thursday morning.
